Russia postpones BRICS and SCO Summit

Russia has postponed two major summits to be held indefinitely amid the growing outbreak of the Corona virus epidemic. The Kremlin said on Wednesday (May 27) that the BRICS and Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summits to be held in July in Russia have been postponed.

A highly placed source involved with the preparations for these summits recently told news agency Sputnik that Russia had decided to postpone the SCO summit, saying it could be held later.

The Kremlin said in a statement that in view of the corona virus epidemic and temporary sanctions, the organizing committee has subsequently decided to postpone the meeting of BRICS leaders and the SCO Council session, first held in St. Petersburg between July 21-23 Was supposed to happen.

The Kremlin further stated that the decision on the new dates of the summit would depend on the development of epidemic conditions in the partner countries and the circumstances going on in the world in general.
