No curfew at night, terms of Modi government not accepted : Mamata Banerjee

The government of West Bengal has extended the lockdown to 31 May to prevent Corona virus infection. However, the Mamata Banerjee government has decided not to impose curfew at night, contrary to the instructions of the central government.

State Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee issued guidelines for Lockdown 4 in the state, saying curfew will not be officially imposed after 7 pm. However, he appealed to the people not to quit unnecessarily. The central government has directed to impose curfew across the country from 7 pm to 7 am.

Terming the central government’s instructions as anti-people, Mamata Banerjee said that she does not want to accept them. Mamta Banerjee described the economic package of 20 lakh crore rupees as zero.

However, the Ministry of Home Affairs said that the curfew would continue at night, which meant that non-essential trips from 7 pm to 7 am would be prohibited and officials would ensure their compliance.
