Pandit Nehru was a great fighter of the Indian freedom struggle against British rule. He believed in democracy, secularism and socialism. In 1955, Pandit Nehru was awarded the Bharat Ratna, India’s highest civilian honor.

Pandit Nehru took charge of the country when the country was going through an epidemic like starvation, poverty and illiteracy.

After independence, he formed the Planning Commission to bring the country on the development path. His policies led to a new era of agriculture and industry in the country. Pandit Nehru was called the author of modern India.
