Lockdown 4.0: Restrictions can only remain in hotspot areas

The fourth phase of lockdown can be limited to hotspot areas only. The third phase ends on 17 May.

The latter strategy was discussed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday with Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, Home Minister Amit Shah, Health Minister Dr. Harsh Vardhan and many senior ministers.

According to sources, most of the ministers agreed to limit the lockdown to areas marked as hotspots rather than being implemented across the district.

During the meeting, it was also agreed to start public transport in the metros with sanitization and social distancing. The government has restored a limited number of rail services and it has been announced to start air service as well.

It has also been decided to allow bus and taxi services to be started in view of the situation in various metros.
